Sunday Miscellany **

Fell across this while wandering around today. I thought this was a primary school riddle, a logical thought exercise. I remember it from second, maybe third grade? Of course, I heard it as tons, but still same principle. Apparently basic logical thought is frequently overcome by what *seems* intuitive, if you don’t apply that tiny bit of common sense you’ve learned through life. There would have been no need to make this little video if that were not the case. The “confused” actor does a great job in emoting his confusion. He appears positively devastated, and confused. It concerns me that this video was necessary. Yes, I have heard that common sense isn’t very common.

A great analogy for intuition from r/AtheistExperience

I found the above video while trying to determine if Tracie Harris had left as host on the call-in talk show The Atheist Experience (also Godless Bitches, but I’m not familiar with that one.). I haven’t seen her lately. She was one of my favorite host or co-host personalities. The quote in the meme below is from an interview she gave not too long ago, where she also said she doesn’t really enjoy debate, and would rather be tending her garden. I can relate to that. John Iocoletti also has left according to FB posts. No one is saying exactly why the shake-up at ACA.

Some of the memes I choose are just plain funny (to me at least). Pointing out the ridiculousity of something just seems like it should be a public duty. Doing it in a funny way if possible makes it a bit less of an issue, but some people will be “offended” because they choose to be.

And then of course, there are the memes that carry a significant message. Whether religious, political or anything else, I simply don’t know how to get the message through in a way that at least someone isn’t offended. My only consolation is that I have been “offended” for so so long with the intrusion into legislation by religion, it is time for action to stop the ever advancing erosion of our representative democracy. It too often doesn’t represent the many minorities we have in this country. It doesn’t represent what is good for the country as a whole.
