Sunday Odds & Ends **

Good morning! We had a glorious sunrise this morning, a glimpse of spring on its way early today (before the “mixed mess” precip and cold returns this afternoon, they say). There was troubling news from Journey North about the western monarch butterfly population being the lowest in many years; though heartening news from Mexico on the southern migrating population (as long as they don’t leave Mexico too early. It’s been unseasonably warm there and the butterflies are more active than normal for this time of year.) Just wanted to pop in a link to some of my favorite quotes on my “baby blog” page, should you wish to visit there.

Micah

Email received from Marcus’ new home that he is adjusting well to the parents’ house where he is the only feline. He has apparently become accustomed to being King of the roost since he was first adopted from me over 8 years ago, and could not adapt to community living as re-adopter (Andre) and I had hoped. As long as he’s happy and doing well, I am grateful for Andre’s efforts on Marcus’ (Micah’s) behalf. Yes, he was Marcus when here, has been Micah since first adopted. He looks great! Actually, he looks a lot like Patrick, the Office Cat here. Patrick was a recent arrival just after we moved up here in 2011. He arrived hating other cats; he was at that adolescent age where young males strike out from the colony on their own. He had to become the office cat here because there are too many who refuse to be dominated by this upstart!

Activity on a minsters’ board seems to be becoming less and less tolerant of differing views; more and more self-righteous and “preachy” of only Christianity. Also intolerant of posts relating to anything but that one brand of religion. Some of us have tried to engage in discussions of equal rights, climate change, government policy, charity works — to deafening silence. This occurring on a platform provided by a church whose sole tenet is “Do That Which Is Right”. Rather depressing. Oh, brief interruption — by way of example of immediately previous ramblings; I was just notified that a member of that site who dislikes my views so much he “blocked me” (a two-way block method is implemented on that site) so I cannot see his normal posts, has this morning posted an attack on me, even though he knows that through his own actions I cannot see nor respond to his post. Great example of Do What Is Right, wouldn’t you agree? Meantime, I was provided a link to a well described Humanist Point Of View. Thanks, LM. Mentally, I am torn between “chuck it, I don’t need this crap” and staying on attempting to reach the more reasonable members there; am still undecided on that.

Anyway, have a wonderful day all! I am working on gathering material for what was originally going to be a simple ‘evolution of religion’ kind of post — how the stories of our ancestors to explain natural events they didn’t understand grew to become “religions”, most of which have been moved into the realm of mythology. As I researched, the citations grew and grew crossing into why we still have certain “religions” that have not advanced to that stage. It’s going to be some sort of multi-part post, simply because there is so much cross-over. I hope to get this together logically in the next few weeks. Please bear with me. Thanks.
